Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Chargers never addressed interior defensive lineman, and it is the kind of gap that lingers.
Every board in the league had Jackson lower, and that gap is the story. The Tyrann Mathieu deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 13 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. A real need, handled.
By-the-book stuff, Xavier Legette at the 38th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No drama and no debate, Rod Moore went about where he belonged in pick 71. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Khyree Jackson in No. 106 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A conviction pick on Darius Robinson at slot 143 that the board grades a round light. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Michael Barrett at pick No. 184 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A minor itch, scratched.
Dwight McGlothern at the 227th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
