When the story of this class is written, it opens with Matthew Jones at slot 172, a reach of 82 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Jackson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd pick they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A reach for Xavier Legette in Round 2, Pick 32; a little patience would have been rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Khyree Jackson at the 95th overall pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Justin Eboigbe. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Mason McCormick at pick 158 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
