Kansas City Chiefs

Good, not great, for the Chiefs: B-.

When the story of this class is written, it opens with Matthew Jones at slot 172, a reach of 82 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Jackson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.32 · Pick 32 · Adonai Mitchell · WR · rank 33
In the 32nd pick they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Xavier Legette · WR · rank 74
A reach for Xavier Legette in Round 2, Pick 32; a little patience would have been rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R3.32 · Pick 95 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 84
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Khyree Jackson at the 95th overall pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R4.31 · Pick 131 · Justin Eboigbe · DL-EDGE · rank 150
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Justin Eboigbe. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.22 · Pick 158 · Mason McCormick · OT · rank 159
Mason McCormick at pick 158 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Matthew Jones · OG · rank 254
They reached into another round for Matthew Jones, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.32 · Pick 252 · Jalen Sundell · OT · rank 287
A real head-scratcher, Jalen Sundell in No. 252 is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
