Somebody in the 160th pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Chiefs sat still while Aireontae Ersery, the No. 114 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
The Alexander reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
JT Tuimoloau in the Round 2 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Donovan Jackson in pick 69 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid up for Wyatt Milum at slot 96 when waiting would have done the job. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Caden Prieskorn in No. 128 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board fumbled Aireontae Ersery all the way to Round 5, Pick 32, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They reached a country mile for Zy Alexander at the 193rd pick, and the board is aghast. A minor itch, scratched.
They liked Dylan Fairchild enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 224. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
