Washington Commanders

The Commanders drew a line under the quarterback search with Daniels: A-.

The search is over. The Commanders handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development.

The Schrader pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.

However the rest shakes out, McKinstry at that price is a win they earned. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.

It is a haul that will look even better come September.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.5 · Pick 5 · Jayden Daniels · QB · rank 8
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get the face of the franchise at fair value.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · Kool-Aid McKinstry · CB · rank 14
You do not let a cornerback like Kool-Aid McKinstry reach pick No. 36 and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R2.5 · Pick 37 · Terrion Arnold · CB · rank 22
Terrion Arnold at the 37th overall pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R2.8 · Pick 40 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 26
Value with a capital V on Jordan Morgan in the 40th pick, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Brandon Dorlus · DE-EDGE · rank 60
Fair-plus on Brandon Dorlus, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.37 · Pick 100 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 111
They liked Cooper Beebe enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 100. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R4.2 · Pick 102 · Gabriel Murphy · DL-EDGE · rank 112
They paid up for Gabriel Murphy at the Round 4 slot when waiting would have done the job. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.5 · Pick 141 · Darius Robinson · DL-EDGE · rank 155
The board had cheaper options than Darius Robinson at slot 141, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.14 · Pick 189 · Tatum Bethune · LB · rank 208
Tatum Bethune in pick No. 189 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R6.26 · Pick 201 · Cody Schrader · RB · rank 237
Value said wait; Cody Schrader in the 201st overall pick says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.3 · Pick 223 · Xavier Restrepo · WR · rank 223
They paid sticker price for Xavier Restrepo in pick 223, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
