Washington Commanders

The Commanders found their guy under center in Daniels: B.

The Commanders spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. No fireworks, but a solid B.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Harris. Spending an early pick on linebacker with running back open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.6 · Pick 6 · Jayden Daniels · QB · rank 8
In slot 6 they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · Terrion Arnold · CB · rank 30
A reasonable price with a little left over, Terrion Arnold in the 36th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R2.5 · Pick 37 · Troy Fautanu · OT · rank 42
Troy Fautanu at pick No. 37 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R2.6 · Pick 38 · Jeremiah Trotter Jr. · LB · rank 46
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at Round 2, Pick 6 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A minor itch, scratched.
R3.4 · Pick 68 · Sedrick Van Pran · C · rank 74
No edge and no loss on Sedrick Van Pran in No. 68; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.37 · Pick 100 · Luke Lachey · TE · rank 106
Luke Lachey in the 100th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.9 · Pick 109 · Tommy Eichenberg · LB · rank 108
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Tommy Eichenberg at linebacker with running back open.
R5.5 · Pick 141 · Isaiah Adams · OT · rank 142
They paid sticker price for Isaiah Adams in the Round 5 slot, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.7 · Pick 143 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 128
Khyree Jackson at No. 143 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R6.7 · Pick 182 · Jordan Burch · DE-EDGE · rank 192
Jordan Burch at pick No. 182 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.12 · Pick 187 · Braden Fiske · DL · rank 172
The board had Braden Fiske higher than Round 6, Pick 12, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R7.5 · Pick 225 · Tre Harris · WR · rank 167
Tre Harris at the 225th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
