New England Patriots

The Patriots finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B.

The Patriots did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Ben Sinnott fell into pick 180. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

Whatever Caleb Williams becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Rice has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.3 · Pick 3 · Caleb Williams · QB · rank 2
In the 3rd overall pick they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
R2.2 · Pick 34 · Joe Alt · OT · rank 4
Circle this one: Joe Alt at Round 2, Pick 2 is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.4 · Pick 68 · Brock Bowers · TE · rank 5
A tight end of that caliber at the 68th pick is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
R4.3 · Pick 103 · Brenden Rice · WR · rank 121
A big swing on Brenden Rice at pick 103, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.1 · Pick 137 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 113
Braelon Allen at No. 137 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.5 · Pick 180 · Ben Sinnott · TE · rank 102
Ben Sinnott at Round 6, Pick 5 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.18 · Pick 193 · James Williams · LB · rank 173
They barely believed it either: James Williams still on the board at pick No. 193. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R7.11 · Pick 231 · Eyabi Okie-Anoma · DL-EDGE · rank 235
Eyabi Okie-Anoma at the Round 7 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
