The rest of the league will want that one back. Cam Skattebo tumbling to the Patriots in slot 145 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 14th pick they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They robbed the room for Tyler Warren here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board had TreVeyon Henderson higher than the Round 3 slot, and the running back fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
A quiet steal in No. 77: Jayden Higgins for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Donovan Jackson at the 105th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board fumbled Cam Skattebo all the way to pick No. 145, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Upton Stout in Round 7, Pick 1 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Somehow Jack Kiser was still sitting there in slot 222, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They barely believed it either: Robert Longerbeam still on the board at the Round 7 slot. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
