Start where it matters. The Commanders took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
Reaching for Okie-Anoma left real value on the table behind him. They banked enough surplus on Keegan to cover a lot of smaller sins. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 2 they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Edgerrin Cooper at the 36th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A reach on Adisa Isaac in No. 40; the board had better options right there. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They paid sticker price for Patrick Paul in slot 67, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They took Khyree Jackson at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Theo Johnson at the 91st overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Johnny Wilson well ahead of where he belonged. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A conviction pick on Walter Rouse at Round 5, Pick 16 that the board grades a round light. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They liked Kamal Hadden enough to skip the value, taking him in the 155th pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Taking Trevor Keegan in the Round 5 slot is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Caedan Wallace in No. 190 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A reach for Michael Barrett in pick 222; a little patience would have been rewarded. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Eyabi Okie-Anoma at the 239th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
