Washington Commanders

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Commanders and Judkins: D-.

The Commanders treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the Round 7 slot on Jimmy Horn Jr. a full 59 spots early. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.

Getting Judkins where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.26 · Pick 26 · Mykel Williams · DE-EDGE · rank 25
In the Round 1 slot they get a problem off the edge at fair value. A real need, handled.
R1.29 · Pick 29 · Derrick Harmon · DT · rank 33
In slot 29 they get a load in the middle. A clean fit for the roster.
R1.32 · Pick 32 · Tate Ratledge · OG · rank 31
Tate Ratledge in pick 32 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Tyler Warren · TE · rank 44
A quiet steal in No. 58: Tyler Warren for less than the market said. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R2.29 · Pick 61 · Dylan Sampson · RB · rank 43
Dylan Sampson at pick No. 61 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
R4.2 · Pick 103 · Tez Johnson · WR · rank 94
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tez Johnson in the 103rd overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.9 · Pick 146 · Quinshon Judkins · RB · rank 73
Somehow Quinshon Judkins was still sitting there in the 146th pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Tonka Hemingway · DT · rank 223
Tonka Hemingway at slot 202 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.19 · Pick 235 · Jimmy Horn Jr. · WR · rank 294
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jimmy Horn Jr. this early at pick 235. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.30 · Pick 246 · Jaylen Reed · S · rank 221
Jaylen Reed in No. 246 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
