The war room fell hard for Jha'Quan Jackson, and it showed at the Round 5 slot: 71 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Jayden Daniels gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 5 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
Fair-plus on Ladd McConkey, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Tyler Guyton in slot 37 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A real head-scratcher, Edgerrin Cooper in the Round 2 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A reach for Cooper Beebe in pick 67; a little patience would have been rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Mohamed Kamara in the 100th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Khyree Jackson. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid a round early for Jaylen Wright in the 141st overall pick, more than the board wanted. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jha'Quan Jackson in slot 142 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than Christian Jones at pick No. 181, and it noticed. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Tatum Bethune in the Round 7 slot, miles early. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
