The Raiders bet big and early on Drew Allar, 48 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A-.

The Lew pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The phones were where this weekend was really won.

It is not that Perkins Jr. is a bad player; it is that the Raiders had louder needs to answer first. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

In the end it comes back to Sonny Styles, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
