Every other box got a look, but quarterback did not. The Cowboys will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with.
Every board in the league had Estime lower, and that gap is the story. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Guyton at No. 35 squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Graham Barton in the Round 2 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Payton Wilson at pick 66 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Johnny Wilson in slot 71 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A reach on Audric Estime in the 87th pick; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Kris Abrams-Draine at pick No. 125 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A reach for Jaylan Ford in Round 5, Pick 37; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reasonable price with a little left over, De'Corian Clark in the 213th overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A straight-up fair deal on Jase McClellan at Round 7, Pick 2, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 242 with a little surplus value in Steele Chambers. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
