The Chiefs went off the board in a big way for Marcus Dumervil, 75 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Fannin Jr..
Hit on Shemar Stewart and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 17 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. A real need, handled.
Harold Fannin Jr. in Round 3, Pick 2 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Charles Grant at the 95th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Vernon Broughton in the 118th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kyren Lacy in slot 132. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A wild overpay on JJ Pegues in pick No. 154, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
