They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Vikings' quarterback, full stop.
However the rest shakes out, Harrell at that price is a win they earned. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped offensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
Bottom line, with Jayden Daniels leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
R1.17
· Pick 17
· Jayden Daniels
· QB
· rank 7
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 17, where Jayden Daniels graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R1.23
· Pick 23
· Dallas Turner
· LB-EDGE
· rank 14
In pick 23 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
R3.32
· Pick 95
· Mike Sainristil
· CB
· rank 75
Mike Sainristil at Round 3, Pick 32 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.33
· Pick 96
· Michael Hall Jr.
· DT
· rank 82
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Michael Hall Jr. at slot 96 is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R4.29
· Pick 129
· Cedric Gray
· LB
· rank 113
A quiet steal in No. 129: Cedric Gray for less than the market said. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R4.32
· Pick 132
· Cole Bishop
· S
· rank 104
You do not let a safety like Cole Bishop reach the 132nd pick and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.21
· Pick 157
· Elijah Jones
· CB
· rank 115
They robbed the room for Elijah Jones here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
R5.31
· Pick 167
· Isaac Guerendo
· RB
· rank 128
Isaac Guerendo at the 167th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.2
· Pick 177
· Tyrone Tracy Jr.
· WR
· rank 153
Tyrone Tracy Jr. in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
R7.10
· Pick 230
· Steele Chambers
· LB
· rank 199
The board fumbled Steele Chambers all the way to No. 230, and they scooped it up. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R7.12
· Pick 232
· M.J. Devonshire
· CB
· rank 191
Somehow M.J. Devonshire was still sitting there in the 232nd pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
R7.32
· Pick 252
· Jaylen Harrell
· DE-EDGE
· rank 208
Jaylen Harrell in pick No. 252 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
