After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Giants committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Smith-Wade. The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Drake Maye at par in No. 6, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
By-the-book stuff, Byron Murphy II at pick 39 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A tidy bit of business in the 47th overall pick, where Kamren Kinchens graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Brenden Rice at Round 3, Pick 6 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A tidy little value on Blake Fisher in slot 107, a step better than break-even. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Daijun Edwards in the Round 5 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They barely believed it either: Chau Smith-Wade still on the board at the 185th pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
