The Commanders lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Mesidor has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Getting Prysock where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd overall pick they get a premier pass rusher, reach and all. A real need, handled.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Germie Bernard at pick No. 71. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and DeMonte Capehart at pick 147 is the proof. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They did well to land Domani Jackson in the Round 6 slot, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No edge and no loss on Matt Gulbin in No. 187; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They read the board right and Ephesians Prysock was the payoff at slot 204. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had VJ Payne higher than the 209th pick, and the safety fell to them anyway. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A conviction pick on Miles Kitselman at Round 7, Pick 7 that the board grades a round light. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
