Green Bay Packers

No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Packers.

You can hear the double-takes from here. The Packers took Devin Leary at No. 245, roughly 62 spots before his name belonged.

McGlothern at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Dallas Turner · LB-EDGE · rank 14
In the 25th pick they get a bendy edge with upside at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 37
Jordan Morgan in Round 2, Pick 9 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A need, and now a little less of one.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 85
Jaden Hicks in the 58th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Elijah Jones · CB · rank 116
They reached into another round for Elijah Jones, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 114
This one needs a full-page explanation: Cedric Gray in the Round 3 slot, miles early. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Isaac Guerendo · RB · rank 129
Isaac Guerendo in slot 126 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Tip Reiman · TE · rank 182
They jumped the gun on Tip Reiman, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Dwight McGlothern · CB · rank 161
A cornerback of that caliber at slot 202 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Julian Pearl · OT · rank 204
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Julian Pearl at the Round 6 slot is the proof. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Devin Leary · QB · rank 307
Devin Leary at pick No. 245 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Josh Proctor · S · rank 244
Josh Proctor is a better player than pick 255 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
