The Commanders did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and T.J. Sanders fell into the 246th pick. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Quantity was the play, for better or worse.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
A cornerback of that caliber at slot 28 is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Ashton Jeanty in pick 56 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
Taking Walter Nolen in Round 3, Pick 14 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Wyatt Milum at the Round 3 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Tre Harris in No. 140 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They barely believed it either: Nick Emmanwori still on the board at pick No. 147. A minor need, but a need all the same.
The board fumbled Josaiah Stewart all the way to the 198th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Dylan Fairchild at the 239th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They will replay T.J. Sanders at pick 246 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
