Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Cowboys were there to profit. Quinshon Judkins, the No. 70 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 170th pick.
The cost of the Lampkin reach is exactly the players who went right after him. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Nice patience on Ashton Jeanty, who had no business lasting to the Round 1 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Tyler Warren in Round 2, Pick 12, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Jayden Higgins at slot 76 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Carson Schwesinger in the 150th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Willie Lampkin this early at the 151st pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
