Miami Dolphins

More right than wrong for the Dolphins, and a B+ to prove it.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Dolphins reached some 94 spots for Hudson Card, and value like that does not grow back. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.

However the rest shakes out, Starks at that price is a win they earned. The Dolphins indulged a want in Mukuba while a need in running back stayed open.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.20 · Pick 20 · Mason Graham · DT · rank 7
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptive interior force at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.16 · Pick 48 · Malaki Starks · S · rank 18
A safety of that caliber at slot 48 is the definition of value, full stop. A minor itch, scratched.
R2.20 · Pick 52 · Tyler Booker · OG · rank 37
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tyler Booker in pick 52. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R3.20 · Pick 84 · Charles Grant · OT · rank 89
A straight-up fair deal on Charles Grant at No. 84, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R3.34 · Pick 98 · Mason Taylor · TE · rank 100
By-the-book stuff, Mason Taylor at pick No. 98 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
R3.35 · Pick 99 · Andrew Mukuba · S · rank 72
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Andrew Mukuba while clear needs at running back sat open.
R4.14 · Pick 115 · Evan Stewart · WR · rank 99
Evan Stewart at No. 115 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.11 · Pick 149 · Jeffrey Bassa · LB · rank 121
They robbed the room for Jeffrey Bassa here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.18 · Pick 156 · Dont'e Thornton Jr. · WR · rank 171
They paid up for Dont'e Thornton Jr. at pick No. 156 when waiting would have done the job. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R7.9 · Pick 223 · Jake Briningstool · TE · rank 207
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jake Briningstool at the 223rd pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R7.18 · Pick 232 · Hudson Card · QB · rank 326
They reached into another round for Hudson Card, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.37 · Pick 251 · Akheem Mesidor · DL-EDGE · rank 324
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Akheem Mesidor. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
