You could see the war room lean forward. Jermod McCoy at pick No. 254 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Adding Myles Garrett by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Spencer Fano at slot 38 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
You do not let an edge rusher like David Bailey reach pick 58 and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They barely believed it either: Sonny Styles still on the board at the 59th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They will replay Carnell Tate at pick No. 70 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Kenyon Sadiq in Round 4, Pick 27, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
The board fumbled Dillon Thieneman all the way to the Round 4 slot, and they scooped it up. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They robbed the room for Chase Bisontis here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A wide receiver of that caliber at No. 187 is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Kayden McDonald in the Round 6 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Lee Hunter at No. 214 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Connor Lew in the 223rd overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Steal is underselling it; Ja'Kobi Lane at slot 249 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Taking Jermod McCoy in pick 254 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
