The Patriots spent real capital to be 112 picks early on Nick Nash, and the board is going to hold them to it.

On value alone, Monheim makes the weekend a net positive. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose.

Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

So much rides on Shemar Stewart that the real verdict is a season or two away.
