The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Tahj Brooks, the 220th overall pick, roughly 105 picks past where he belonged.
The Spraggins reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Tyler Booker in pick 38 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Somehow Jihaad Campbell was still sitting there in pick No. 69, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A straight-up fair deal on Darien Porter at the 77th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Ajani Cornelius at slot 104 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Howard Cross III at Round 5, Pick 6 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They barely believed it either: Sonny Styles still on the board at the 217th pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A running back of that caliber at No. 220 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A wild overpay on Javontez Spraggins in the Round 7 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
