The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Chiefs watched Keon Coleman slide 59 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It washes out to a C-, no better and no worse.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
If Ladd McConkey and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a difference-maker at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Jordan Morgan in slot 43 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They robbed the room for Payton Wilson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board fumbled Keon Coleman all the way to pick No. 95, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Nehemiah Pritchett. A minor itch, scratched.
Fair-plus on Xavier Thomas, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
A quiet steal in Round 5, Pick 36: AJ Barner for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and KT Leveston at the 252nd overall pick is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
