You could see the war room lean forward. Decamerion Richardson at pick 210 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
The Watson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The Eagles indulged a want in Trotter Jr. while a need in wide receiver, interior defensive lineman and other spots stayed open. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 22 they get a cornerstone up front. A clean fit for the roster.
They did well to land Junior Colson in the Round 2 slot, just ahead of his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. adds a linebacker and leaves wide receiver, interior defensive lineman and other spots untouched.
They paid sticker price for Jarrian Jones in the 120th overall pick, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They robbed the room for Kitan Oladapo here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Xavier Thomas in Round 5, Pick 35 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nathaniel Watson at slot 172 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Decamerion Richardson in pick No. 210 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
