Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the 49ers spent the Round 4 slot on Nate Boerkircher, a name most had 25 spots down the list.
They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 27th pick they get a disruptor off the edge, though they paid up to get him.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 58 with a little surplus value in Chase Bisontis. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Kaleb Proctor in pick No. 127 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Nothing to complain about; Trey Zuhn III went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value said wait; Nate Boerkircher in pick 138 says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
No drama and no debate, Hezekiah Masses went about where he belonged in Round 4, Pick 39. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
