Nobody else had Eric Gentry anywhere near No. 246. The Titans did, by 106 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.
McNeil-Warren at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The phones were where this weekend was really won. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Chris Brazzell II and all.
Pick-by-Pick
Good price on Chris Brazzell II in No. 35, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Eli Stowers at Round 2, Pick 25 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A tidy little value on Germie Bernard in pick 62, a step better than break-even. The roster fit checks out.
Jake Slaughter in slot 69 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Mike Washington Jr. at the 79th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Ted Hurst in the 91st pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in the 101st overall pick, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A tidy bit of business in No. 111, where Treydan Stukes graded well above the range. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Jalen Farmer in the 113th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Joe Royer at slot 126 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dametrious Crownover. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They took Isaiah World at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Fair-plus on Demond Claiborne, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They read the board right and Ar'maj Reed-Adams was the payoff at Round 6, Pick 1. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Domani Jackson in Round 6, Pick 3. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
They did well to land Jeff Caldwell in No. 194, just ahead of his grade. It fills a real need, too.
John Michael Gyllenborg in the 220th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jaren Kanak in pick 225 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They reached into another round for Adam Randall, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Joshua Braun. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A real head-scratcher, Eric Gentry in pick No. 246 is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
