There is reaching, and then there is Justin Jefferson at No. 152. The Titans jumped the board by 51 and dared it to prove them wrong. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Love pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
Jeremiyah Love slipping to the Round 1 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Carnell Tate in the 20th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zion Young. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Keionte Scott went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Logan Jones at the 101st pick is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A reach on Marlin Klein in Round 5, Pick 2; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They reached into another round for Bryce Boettcher, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Value said wait; Justin Jefferson in the 152nd overall pick says they were not listening. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They paid sticker price for Jeff Caldwell in the 184th pick, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Good price on Ephesians Prysock in slot 194, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Fa'alili Fa'amoe at Round 7, Pick 9 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
