You can hear the double-takes from here. The Titans took Nadame Tucker at the 144th overall pick, roughly 33 spots before his name belonged.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Landing Slaughter that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th overall pick they get a featured back. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Good price on Chris Brazzell II in the Round 2 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jake Slaughter at the 66th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Keyshaun Elliott this early at pick 101. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They went early on Jaeden Roberts in slot 142, and the value did not follow. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Nadame Tucker at pick No. 144 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Dae'Quan Wright in No. 184 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on VJ Payne. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A reach for Zavion Thomas in slot 225; a little patience would have been rewarded. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
