The Titans clearly saw something nobody else did in Jack Pyburn, taking him 64 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
Orange at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 9 they get a three-down runner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In Round 1, Pick 29 they get a ballhawk on the outside. More want than need.
A reasonable price with a little left over, CJ Allen in the 35th overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Germie Bernard at No. 66 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Caden Curry at the Round 3 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at the 101st pick is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No edge and no loss on Isaiah World in the 142nd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jaeden Roberts in pick 144 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Caleb Douglas in Round 6, Pick 3 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cole Payton. It fills a real need, too.
A big swing on Jack Pyburn at slot 225, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jack Kelly at the 246th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
