You could see the war room lean forward. Connor Lew at pick No. 101 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The Graves reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
Value with a capital V on Jeremiyah Love in slot 12, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Makai Lemon slipping to No. 20 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A need, and now a little less of one.
They liked Joshua Josephs enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 2, Pick 3. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Eli Stowers is a better player than the 66th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Taking Connor Lew in pick No. 101 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
J.C. Davis at pick 142 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jaeden Roberts at the 144th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They talked themselves into Aaron Graves at the Round 6 slot, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A tidy little value on Jeff Caldwell in No. 194, a step better than break-even. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They did well to land Thaddeus Dixon in pick No. 225, just ahead of his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
