The Vikings bet big and early on Frank Gore Jr., 88 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Everything downstream of J.J. McCarthy depends on J.J. McCarthy, and the building knows it. The Harden pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
