With quarterback and tight end unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The Horn Jr. reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

In the end it comes back to James Pearce Jr., and a haul good enough to build on right away.
