When a board-topper like M.J. Devonshire slides to the 219th pick, you do not overthink it, and the Packers did not.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Amegadjie proves the room right and everyone else wrong. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
No drama and no debate, Tyler Nubin went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Kiran Amegadjie at the 58th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. The roster fit checks out.
Nice patience on Max Melton, who had no business lasting to pick 88. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Bucky Irving at Round 3, Pick 28 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
James Williams in No. 126 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A straight-up fair deal on Jordan Travis at slot 169, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Tahj Washington slipping to the 202nd pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
M.J. Devonshire in pick 219 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had Michael Barrett higher than the 245th overall pick, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
You do not let a cornerback like Daijahn Anthony reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
