The Chiefs clearly saw something nobody else did in Kingsley Eguakun, taking him 26 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy little value on Troy Franklin in No. 32, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No drama and no debate, Payton Wilson went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 32. A need, and now a little less of one.
They liked Matt Goncalves enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 3 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They took Daijun Edwards at par in pick No. 133, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They paid sticker price for Keith Randolph Jr. in pick 158, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Kitan Oladapo at the 172nd overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Kingsley Eguakun in the 210th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jeremy Flax at Round 7, Pick 30 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
