You could see the war room lean forward. Jordan Morgan at Round 3, Pick 37 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
So much rides on Jayden Daniels that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Trey McBride gives the group a proven body among the projects.
In the end it comes back to Jayden Daniels, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 4 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
They robbed the room for Olumuyiwa Fashanu here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 40 is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Somehow Cooper DeJean was still sitting there in Round 3, Pick 3, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Taking Chop Robinson in slot 78 is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jordan Morgan at the 100th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
DJ James in No. 139 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Kitan Oladapo at the Round 5 slot is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Steal is underselling it; Dallin Holker at the 222nd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
