You build a draft on nights like this. Dominick Puni had no business being available in Round 4, Pick 25, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. No fireworks, but a solid B.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. They will need Watson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Kool-Aid McKinstry · CB · rank 19
In the 25th overall pick they get a ballhawk on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Xavier Legette · WR · rank 27
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Xavier Legette at the Round 2 slot is the proof. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Tyler Guyton · OT · rank 41
Nice patience on Tyler Guyton, who had no business lasting to pick 57. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Tykee Smith · S · rank 97
The board had cheaper options than Tykee Smith at Round 3, Pick 25, and it noticed. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Audric Estime · RB · rank 96
No edge and no loss on Audric Estime in pick No. 91; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 103
Circle this one: Dominick Puni at slot 125 is a fall that decides a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 131
Nothing to complain about; Cedric Gray went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Jawhar Jordan · RB · rank 202
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jawhar Jordan. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Brevyn Spann-Ford · TE · rank 216
No drama and no debate, Brevyn Spann-Ford went about where he belonged in Round 6, Pick 42. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Nathaniel Watson · LB · rank 231
Nathaniel Watson in pick No. 219 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
R7.26 · Pick 246 · Dwight McGlothern · CB · rank 249
By-the-book stuff, Dwight McGlothern at the 246th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
