The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jordan Magee fell into Round 6, Pick 42. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They are betting Bullard proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a cornerstone up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Jonah Elliss at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They went early on Javon Bullard in pick No. 57, and the value did not follow. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A tidy bit of business in pick 88, where Cooper Beebe graded well above the range. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Good price on McKinnley Jackson in No. 91, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It fills a real need, too.
A clean, defensible pick in the 125th pick with a little surplus value in Jarrian Jones. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
MarShawn Lloyd at Round 4, Pick 35 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Value with a capital V on Isaiah Williams in the 203rd overall pick, a genuine coup. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Somehow Jordan Magee was still sitting there in slot 217, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Jase McClellan slid further than he should have, and the 219th overall pick is lovely value for the running back. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on Dwight McGlothern in pick No. 246; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
