The Cardinals spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Malachi Moore, the No. 16 name on the board, in the Round 3 slot. They executed a plan and it shows in the A-.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
It is a haul that will look even better come September.
Pick-by-Pick
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Walter Nolen at slot 24 is the proof. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
DJ Campbell at Round 2, Pick 22 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Smael Mondon Jr. in the Round 3 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They robbed the room for Malachi Moore here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at No. 123 is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Taking Deontae Lawson in pick 157 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
Rylie Mills in the 166th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
