Green Bay Packers

The Packers kept it disciplined and banked a B.

Some picks age like wine; Tip Reiman at pick 126 will need to, sitting 56 spots clear of his grade. The bottom line is a respectable B.

They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Getting Harden where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.26 · Pick 26 · Troy Fautanu · OT · rank 22
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term starter on the line. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Ennis Rakestraw Jr. · CB · rank 35
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at Round 2, Pick 9 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Payton Wilson · LB · rank 57
They took Payton Wilson at par in pick No. 58, which is nothing to complain about. A minor itch, scratched.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Cole Bishop · S · rank 104
They jumped the gun on Cole Bishop, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Christian Mahogany · OG · rank 98
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Mahogany. It fills a real need, too.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Isaiah Davis · RB · rank 156
They reached a country mile for Isaiah Davis at slot 125, and the board is aghast. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Tip Reiman · TE · rank 182
This one needs a full-page explanation: Tip Reiman in the 126th overall pick, miles early. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Myles Cole · DE-EDGE · rank 197
Myles Cole in pick No. 169 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Jalen Sundell · OT · rank 246
A wild overpay on Jalen Sundell in No. 202, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Myles Harden · CB · rank 209
The board had Myles Harden higher than pick 219, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Sam Hartman · QB · rank 258
They went early on Sam Hartman in the Round 7 slot, and the value did not follow. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Tyler Owens · S · rank 255
No edge and no loss on Tyler Owens in the 255th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
