The rest of the league will want that one back. Anthony Gould tumbling to the Cowboys in the 233rd pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

In slot 24 they get protection for the quarterback. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Cooper Beebe slipping to the Round 2 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Taking DJ James in the 87th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A tidy little value on McKinnley Jackson in No. 127, a step better than break-even. The roster fit checks out.
James Williams in the 174th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They barely believed it either: Cody Schrader still on the board at pick No. 216. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Anthony Gould in pick 233 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Steal is underselling it; Fabien Lovett at Round 7, Pick 24 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
