Nobody else had Michael Pratt anywhere near the Round 3 slot. The Chargers did, by 39 spots, and that gap is the whole story. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
Thomas Jr. at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a run-stuffing presence up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Brian Thomas Jr. in slot 37 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Ruke Orhorhoro in the 45th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Bralen Trice at pick No. 50 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No edge and no loss on Mike Sainristil in No. 62; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kamren Kinchens at the Round 3 slot is the proof. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Braelon Allen at the 97th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A real head-scratcher, Michael Pratt in slot 99 is miles ahead of his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Johnny Wilson in pick 106 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
