Nobody had Ephesians Prysock this high, and it is not close. The 49ers reached 53 spots to get him at Round 4, Pick 38. No fireworks, but a solid B.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Trost. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
Steal is underselling it; Kenyon Sadiq at pick No. 35 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
They barely believed it either: Emmanuel Pregnon still on the board at the 58th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Dani Dennis-Sutton in pick 66, miles early. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They robbed the room for Peter Woods here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Circle this one: Logan Jones at No. 133 is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Ephesians Prysock in Round 4, Pick 38 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jeff Caldwell well ahead of where he belonged. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kaleb Elarms-Orr this early at Round 5, Pick 15. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
VJ Payne at the 187th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Keagen Trost in the 229th pick, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
