The Cowboys spent real capital to be 112 picks early on Dontay Corleone, and the board is going to hold them to it. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.
They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Brown pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 16 they get a load in the middle at fair value.
Kenneth Grant at the Round 2 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Nicholas Singleton at No. 78 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They took Jihaad Campbell at par in pick 117, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Garrett Dellinger in the 153rd pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A wild overpay on Nazir Stackhouse in Round 5, Pick 31, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The roster fit checks out.
No edge and no loss on Ricky White III in pick 170; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A slide stopped in Round 5, Pick 33, with Logan Brown worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A straight-up fair deal on Trey Moore at pick No. 189, value and slot in agreement. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Dontay Corleone at No. 208 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
