Some picks age like wine; Donovan Jennings at the 219th overall pick will need to, sitting 29 spots clear of his grade. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Davis value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a load in the middle. A real need, handled.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 34 with a little surplus value in Tyler Nubin. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A quiet steal in the Round 2 slot: Kris Jenkins for less than the market said. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Junior Colson at pick No. 88. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A wild overpay on Mohamed Kamara in slot 91, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They took MarShawn Lloyd at par in the 125th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Isaiah Davis in slot 203 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A tidy little value on Jalen Green in the 217th pick, a step better than break-even. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Donovan Jennings at the 219th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Demani Richardson. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
