Some picks age like wine; Tip Reiman at pick No. 182 will need to, sitting 43 spots clear of his grade. It holds up to a second look, which is why it earns the A-.
The Legette pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
In the end it comes back to Taliese Fuaga, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 13 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
J.J. McCarthy in the Round 2 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Xavier Worthy at slot 55 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kingsley Suamataia at pick 68 is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They let Javon Bullard come to them and pounced at the 77th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 104th pick is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid a round early for Marist Liufau in the 136th pick, more than the board wanted. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Dillon Johnson at No. 157 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
They reached into another round for Tip Reiman, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Joe Milton III in slot 200 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ryan Cooper Jr.. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
