Somewhere a general manager is explaining how TreVeyon Henderson got past him. The Cardinals do not have to explain a thing at slot 114.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Thornton Jr. has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board fumbled Kenneth Grant all the way to the Round 2 slot, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tate Ratledge in No. 78. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Tez Johnson in pick 89, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They robbed the room for TreVeyon Henderson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Kevin Winston Jr. in the 153rd overall pick, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A reach on Dont'e Thornton Jr. in pick No. 167; the board had better options right there. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
