You could see the war room lean forward. Demetrius Knight Jr. at slot 114 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They are betting Trapilo proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 20 they get a double-digit-sack hope at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Kenneth Grant in the Round 2 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Ozzy Trapilo in pick 78 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Taking Demetrius Knight Jr. in the 114th pick is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Steal is underselling it; Jaylin Noel at slot 121 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Somehow Lathan Ransom was still sitting there in the 153rd overall pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
