The search is over. The Giants handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The Eichenberg pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Jayden Daniels at par in the Round 1 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Xavier Legette at pick 35 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Kamren Kinchens in Round 3, Pick 6 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Max Melton in the 71st pick, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Braelon Allen. It fills a real need, too.
They reached into another round for Tommy Eichenberg, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
