Thirty-one other rooms let Tyrone Tracy Jr. slide, and the Cowboys were the ones holding the card at the Round 6 slot. Highway robbery. The bottom line is a respectable B.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.2 · Pick 34 · Amarius Mims · OT · rank 24
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Amarius Mims at the 34th overall pick is the proof. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R2.24 · Pick 56 · Chris Braswell · LB-EDGE · rank 42
A slide stopped in pick No. 56, with Chris Braswell worth more than the price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R3.24 · Pick 87 · DJ James · CB · rank 81
A clean, defensible pick in the 87th pick with a little surplus value in DJ James. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.3 · Pick 103 · Trey Benson · RB · rank 89
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Trey Benson in pick 103. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.38 · Pick 174 · Luke McCaffrey · WR · rank 149
Luke McCaffrey in slot 174 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Tyrone Tracy Jr. · WR · rank 153
Taking Tyrone Tracy Jr. in Round 6, Pick 41 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.13 · Pick 233 · Trevin Wallace · LB · rank 233
They paid sticker price for Trevin Wallace in No. 233, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.24 · Pick 244 · Tayvion Robinson · WR · rank 232
Tayvion Robinson slid further than he should have, and the Round 7 slot is lovely value for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
