Thirty-one other rooms let Tyrone Tracy Jr. slide, and the Cowboys were the ones holding the card at the Round 6 slot. Highway robbery. The bottom line is a respectable B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Amarius Mims at the 34th overall pick is the proof. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A slide stopped in pick No. 56, with Chris Braswell worth more than the price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A clean, defensible pick in the 87th pick with a little surplus value in DJ James. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Trey Benson in pick 103. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Luke McCaffrey in slot 174 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
